Our client, one of the world’s leading Construction Management consultants, currently requires a Senior Sustainability Consultant within its core Consulting Team to help clients improve the sustainability of their buildings and developments, including providing advice and analysis of environmental impacts, cost and economic impacts, and wider social and community benefits and impacts.
Sustainability is now a key challenge facing everyone involved in development and construction and as a key element of government policy investors, procurers and planning authorities expect industry to achieve ever higher standards of sustainability performance.
The sustainability team forms a key part of the offering of the management consultancy division within our client and draws on the specialist expertise of their multi-disciplinary in house teams to ensure sustainability is successfully integrated into any stage of the development cycle.
Services provided by the team include; sustainability strategy development; environmental / performance assessments (BREEAM, LEED, CEEQUAL, DREEAM); brief development for best practice and policy requirements; energy and carbon management; life cycle assessment, eco efficiency (waste, water, energy and materials) and design solutions; advising on the financial and fiscal advantages of investing in sustainability; advising on sustainable specifications and socio economic impact assessment.
The range of work is diverse and covers all the sustainability and environmental issues facing the built environment from community cohesion to renewable energy.
As an experienced sustainability consultant you will provide advice and support to clients and design teams about how to improve the sustainability of buildings and development by providing strategic advice on sustainability, with a particular focus on buildings and development; providing practical, project-focused advice and assessments on improving the sustainability of buildings and development (covering such impacts as carbon emissions, energy efficiency, waste and recycled content, etc), and with a particular focus on the cost and economic implications of these impacts; contributing to associated research, analysis and, where appropriate, the development of new tools and capabilities to support such assessments and supporting the development and implementation of our clients CSR policy, especially in relation to environmental matters.
As a senior member of the team you will also assist in the training, mentoring and development of junior members of staff in the sustainability team.
Ideally you will have a good first degree in a construction or environmental science discipline with a master’s degree in environmental science and have membership of a recognized professional institution, namely MRICS/RIBA/ICE or CIBSE although candidates with good compensating experience would also be considered.
You will also have a minimum of 5 years experience in construction, with a focus on advising on the environmental impact of construction and development and good knowledge of the environmental impact of construction, government policy in relation to sustainability in the built environment, design strategies for environmentally benign buildings, the evaluation tools (BREEAM, GB Tool, CEEQUAL, etc) and the cost and economic implications of sustainability.
You should have a sound appreciation of financial management as well as an understanding of how consultancy businesses work.
